Technical Barriers and Access Needs in 9-8-8 Crisis Services: DWCC’s CRTC 2025-20 Submissions

The CRTC investigation is called Call for comments – Improving the routing of 9-8-8 calls and texts

CRTC launched and opened an investigation about improving the routing of 9-8-8 calls and texts. DWCC participated because of its concerns about the technical barriers of not having a direct ASL and LSQ option which will be seen in our submissions below.

DWCC will submit a video that indicates that not just the Committee members but the Deaf community as a whole across the country, all the Deaf, Deaf-Blind and Hard of Hearing Canadians want to see a fourth option added to the accessibility of 9-8-8 mental health services.
